Bombay Play, a gaming firm has raised $1.5 million in pre-Series A round led by Leo Capital, VC firm focused on earl stage technology investments. The round also saw participation from Ramakant Sharma, an angel investor and co-founder of Livspace. The company release a press statement saying that the latest funding will be utilized to hire the best talent in gaming industry and expanding the operations overseas.

Oliver Jones, CEO, Bombay Play said, “India is on a rocket ship trajectory to becoming one of the top game development hubs of the world. We are building a team that has the vision and energy to deliver world-class titles that will compete with the best.” Abhas Saroha, CTO of Bombay Play, added “India today has the tech and creative talent to produce world-class content for global audiences.

Bombay Play, a multiplayer game creator is trusted with the strong entrepreneurial experience of its co-founders, Oliver Jones and Abhas Saroha. While Oliver Jones had co-founded Moonfrog labs and directed games at Glu mobile and Zynga, Abhas Saroha led engineering at Zynga, Moonfrog Labs, and MakeMyTrip.

Pokemon Tower Battle, 29 Card Game and Card Party are a few of its most popular games. The company is all set to launch a Battle Royale Game called ‘lockdown brawl’ as people seek more ways to socialize with their peers while sitting at home. Bombay Play amassed 10 million downloads in its first year for its signature game ‘Card Party’. Last December, the Pokémon Company also announced that it would partner with Bombay Play to publish games on Facebook.
