contract workers

Contract workers will see strong demand in coming months as companies ramp up output to make up for lost time, Economic Times reports. While firms like Tata Steel, L&T and KEC International have managed to hold on to a section of their workers and expect the rest to return, experts think that won’t be easy. Teamlease expects a 20-30% gap in contract worker availability once work resumes, forcing companies to go for backfills and potentially paying higher wages. Meanwhile, e-tailers and FMCG companies are already scouting for workers stuck in cities to fill urgent vacancies.
