Tiffilo

The biggest struggle that a student or a working individual faces by living away from home is nutritious food. With platforms like Swiggy and Zomato, ordering became easy but they fail to deliver the comfort of home cooked food. Suraj Kumar Yaduvanshi faced a similar ordeal and with his friend Shashank Chauhan, he conceptualised Tiffilo. This Lucknow-based startup delivers healthy homemade meals to its customers.

The startup began in a rented apartment in Lucknow and now has expanded its operations in Varanasi and Alwar. Tiffilo not only serves home-cooked food but also has empowered home makers by giving them a source of income. The B2B version of the startup is called, ‘Tiffilo for Office’ where it provides food in canteens of companies like Treebo Hotels, Indizel and My Eco Energy among others.

Tiffilo has an app which allows the users to order their meal from the nearest vendor. It works on a subscription model where users have to subscribe to a particular vendor and they can choose the period from weekly to monthly based on their convenience. They can opt for a meal for as low as Rs 60. It also provides them the option of switching vendor or skipping meal making it even more convenient. They currently have over 100 cooking vendors over three cities.

To change the belief that small cities can not have startups, Suraj chose Lucknow as the headquarters of Tiffilo. In addition to that, he believes the city has huge potential as students from nearby towns come there to study and work. The company is presently clocking a quarterly revenue of Rs 20 lakh according to the founders. Tiffilo had received funding from Abhijit Mittra as an angel investor in 2017. That was used in manufacturing airtight lunchboxes for better delivery and branding. The founders are aiming to expand their presence in 10 cities in coming mo
