The last two months have witnessed lay offs and salary cuts in almost all verticals of industry ranging from travel to technology. As more and more employees get pink slips, there is another industry which is hiring this year. Fintech Startups have about 1100 job openings according to a report.

The payment and lending startups are offering jobs in product, design, engineering, business development, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity over next one year. A survey conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers states that the demand for fintech professionals is expected to go up by 42% by the end of this year.

PineLabs, a payment service provider is looking to hire around 150 sales executives with 1-4 years of experience. Akash Gehani, founder of InstaMojo said that they are also planning to onboard 130-150 people for critical roles in business and product as they expect to expand their operations.

Cashfree is also looking for 75 new additions in its existing team of 130. “We are looking to invest in our R&D efforts this year and new hires would be part of our growing engineering, product and design team. Other than R&D, we will be ramping up our regional presence by adding more talent in the merchant acquisition team across 4-5 major cities,” Cashfree cofounder Akash Sinha said.

Manmeet Sandhu, Chief People Officer at PhonePe stated that the payment and digital wallet startup has 550 positions open for engineering and technology profiles. They plan to hire senior officials in technology, analytics and product, as well as in corporate functions like legal, finance and marketing.

Consumer lending startup MoneyTap is also looking to onboard 100 candidates on junior level in technology, operations, customer relations and marketing verticals. “The finance industry has typically always been people-driven, but now we will be relying more on technology as the fintech sector has seen an uptick in traction during the lockdown. So, we will need talent in data science and technology,” said Bala Parthasarathy, cofounder of MoneyTap.

Fintech firm MobiKwik is also looking to hire over 70 people in next one year. The job roles are open for engineers, technology leads, data scientists and engineering managers as told by cofounder Upasana Taku. These job openings will definitely help the country’s economy to stand again as the unemployment ratios are at an all time high.
