Bengaluru-based online events hosting platform Airmeet has raised $12 Mn in Series A funding round led by Sequoia Capital India along with participation from US-based Redpoint Ventures, and existing investors Accel India, Venture Highway, and Global Founders Capital (GFC).

It was founded in 2019 by Lalit Mangal, Vinay Kumar Jasti, and Manoj Kumar Singh. Mangal was one of the founders of CommonFloor, while Jasti and Singh were in the leadership team at the proptech startup.

Besides VCs, angel investors such as Unacademy cofounder Gaurav Munjal, RedBus cofounder Phanindra Sama, Livspace Cofounder Ramakant Sharma, CommonFloor cofounder Sumit Jain, Kawa Space founder Krish Nair, and Telenor Health founder Sajid Rahman also participated in the round.

Airmeet is an online meeting and event hosting platform, where instead of simply broadcasting the event, participants can connect with other event attendees for one-to-one and one-to-many online interactions. The remote-first startup claims to be an all-in-one platform that helps its users to host, discover, and attend remote events like professional meetups and conferences.

Abhishek Mohan, VP at Sequoia Capital India said, “Covid-19 has accelerated a permanent behavioral shift across many industries. With digitization of largely traditional spaces leapfrogging by years, the $800+ billion global offline events space is up for grabs. There is massive potential for players who drive the industry’s transition towards online-events, Airmeet’s mission is to create a global platform to enable millions of community managers and event organizers across the world to engage with and expand their audience. And with Lalit and team’s focus, execution and innovative thinking, they are strongly placed to achieve their goal.”

Lalit Mangal, Cofounder at Airmeet said, ““A good portion of the funding will be deployed into product and technology development. The second area would be to grow the customer base to 10X in the next 24 months.”
