Unacademy acquired a test preparation startup called Coursavy for an undisclosed amount.

Founded in January of 2019 by Vimal Singh Rathore, Coursavy has over 70,000 learners on its YouTube channel and platform where it holds live online classes, resolves doubts of UPSC aspirants, and helps with study notes, performance, and feedback.

“Bringing Coursavy on board will play a strategic role for Unacademy in the UPSC examination category,” said Gaurav Munjal, co-founder, and CEO of Unacademy. “I look forward to working with Vimal and the Coursavy team as they become a part of the Unacademy Group.”

The company also invested $5 million for a majority stake in Mastree, a subscription platform for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) courses for students in Grades 5-8.

Unacademy said Coursavy’s content will aid teachers on its own platform in conducting live classes, while Rathore will act as a mentor, apart from being a teacher on the platform himself.

“We are thrilled to be a part of Unacademy and be able to contribute to the mission of democratizing education. Access to the right resources, technology, and teams will help us create an impact in the lives of millions of learners,” Rathore, the CEO of Coursavy, said.
