The world has come to a halt with ongoing coronavirus crisis and people are taking to online platforms to continue studying. EdTech companies have benefitted big time from this. Amidst this, Bangalore-based EdTech firm, GetMyUni has taken over IELTSMaterial, an online learning platform. The deal was finalised on April,15 this year and post that all the operations for both the enterprises have been merged.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS), as the name suggests is an online test of English for candidates applying for universities in countries where English is the main language of communication. IELTSMaterial served an audience of 3.5 million students across 100 countries. After acquiring IELTSMaterial, GetMyUni now has a user base of 50 million students.

The startup has shown 2X growth in learners and e-book sales during the pandemic season. Founded in 2015, GetMyUni helps students to look for colleges and has partnered with over 200+ universities in India and abroad. They have had more than 10K admissions in these universities. Upneet Grover, CEO, GetMyUni tells that the company had plans to venture into the $10 billion market of study abroad and with this merger, they have officially accomplished that. IELTS is one of the most important exams in the market not only in the country but also overseas.

With the latest development, GetMyUni functions on 2 more platforms in addition to itself that are IELTSMaterial and TheCollegeMonk. The startup is helping universities to reach their students virtually currently through webinars and online classes. GetMyUni has become one of the largest college, course and career search platforms of the country and it keeps on growing each day with the increasing emphasis on education.
