Acko General Insurance by Acko Technologies has filed a complaint against two of its former employees for theft of confidential information. The complaint was recorded in Bengaluru and the Cybercrime department has filed a FIR for the same. The company has accused the employees of using the information in starting their own firm.

The FIR was filed on May 8 under section 66 and 72 of the IT Act, and Sections 403, 406, 408, 426, 120B and 34 of Indian Penal Code. Acko has claimed that one of the accused held the position of Vice President and during his notice period in February, he downloaded the data and reset the Operating System of his laptop to ensure secrecy.

The complaint states that the theft has costed the company about Rs 20 crore in damages. The firm launched by the former employees in February has raised Rs 17.5 crore from a renowned investor. The company is a direct competition to Acko and functions in the insure-tech sector. The accused in a statement said that they are shocked by the complaint and have not indulged in any activity like mentioned. According to him, this is an act to “defame, intimidate and harass” them and they will cooperate with the authorities to run the investigation peacefully.
